Client Success Story

AMATS, OH

.

From doubting their data to staking every funding decision on it.

The Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study needed one consistent condition standard across dozens of member communities. PMG delivered a single platform the whole region now uses to score, compare, and defend every pavement funding application.

CHALLENGE

Dozens of communities, no shared definition of "bad road."

As the metropolitan planning organization for the Greater Akron region, AMATS distributes transportation funding across its member communities. That job depends on comparing pavement conditions fairly across jurisdictions — and before PMG, the numbers coming in weren't comparable.

→ Condition data collected inconsistently, scores from one community couldn't be compared against another

→ No regional view of network condition to inform how funding should be prioritized

→ Funding applications were difficult to evaluate side by side, and harder still to defend

WHAT PMG DID

One assessment, one methodology, one platform for the whole region.

Region-wide standardized assessment

A single ASTM D6433-compliant PCI survey covering 913 enterline miles across the AMATS planning area, collected the same way in every community regardless of size or staffing.

RoadINsights for every member

Segment-level PCI scores, condition ratings, and HD roadway video in one platform — each community sees its own network, AMATS sees the full regional picture.

Data built for funding decisions

Condition data structured to go straight into pavement funding applications, so reviewers and applicants work from the same numbers.

THE RESULTS

Regional funding decisions now rest on data everyone agrees on.

One Methodology

One methodology across the region means a PCI score means the same thing in every member community.

Defensibility

Funding recommendations are backed by unbiased third-party condition data rather than self-reported ratings.

Every Member Covered

Communities of every size work from the same quality of pavement data when they apply for funding.

A Regional Baseline

AMATS can track condition trends across the whole planning area over time, not just project by project.

"Other companies make big promises, but with PMG, we know we're actually getting results. Their RoadINsights dashboard is so intuitive, you don't need to be a GIS expert to use it, and their team is always right there with support."
